Telbox Terms of Service
Last updated: May 11, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Telbox. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
This is a draft for the v0 External TestFlight. Before App Store submission, have a lawyer review for the jurisdictions you ship in (UAE for the wedge launch; KSA, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, US, EU thereafter). The Privacy Policy at telbox.ai/privacy is incorporated by reference and explains exactly what we do with your data.
1. The service
Telbox is an AI-native voice-notes and messaging app for iOS. We provide:
- A way to record voice notes and send them to other people, end-to-end encrypted.
- An optional AI layer that transcribes, summarizes, and extracts action items from your voice notes.
- The infrastructure to deliver messages reliably, including push notifications and offline queueing.
- The ability to export everything you've created and to delete your account at any time.
We may add, change, or remove features. If we make a material change, we will tell you in-app first.
2. Your account
To use Telbox you need an account. By creating one you confirm:
- The information you provide is accurate (your name, your email or phone number).
- You are at least 13 years old. If you are between 13 and 18 you have your parent or guardian's permission.
- You are not on any sanctions list that would prohibit us from offering you the service under UAE, US, or EU law.
- You will not let anyone else use your account.
You are responsible for the security of your device and your account credentials. If you lose access, contact us at hello@telbox.ai.
3. Beta status
Telbox is currently in beta via Apple's TestFlight program. Beta software:
- May contain bugs, may lose data, may stop working without warning.
- May change feature behavior between builds.
- Is not yet covered by any paid-tier reliability commitment.
You use the beta at your own risk. We will work hard to avoid data loss and will tell you if we know of any.
4. Acceptable use
You agree NOT to use Telbox to:
- Send messages that harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate anyone.
- Send content that sexually exploits minors. Such content is reported immediately to the relevant authorities and your account is permanently banned.
- Send spam, phishing, or unsolicited bulk messages.
- Distribute malware, exploits, or any code intended to compromise other users' devices.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except where local law explicitly grants you that right.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our infrastructure without prior written permission. Responsible-disclosure security research is welcome — see "Security research" below.
- Use the service for any purpose that violates UAE law or the law of the country you are using it from.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. Egregious violations (CSAM, threats of violence) are reported to the relevant authorities.
5. Content you send
Your content stays yours. You retain all rights to the voice notes, text messages, and any files you send. You grant us only the minimum permission needed to operate the service: to encrypt, store, and deliver your messages to the recipients you choose. We do not use your content to train AI models. We do not display your content publicly. We do not share it with anyone other than the recipients you send to (and the in-workspace AI processor, if you have AI enabled — see the Privacy Policy for the full mechanics).
Encryption is end-to-end. We can't read your messages even if we wanted to, except for the AI-derived layer you opt into per workspace. If we get a lawful production order for your messages, we can hand over only the ciphertext. Read telbox.ai/privacy for the full data inventory.
You're responsible for the content you send. If you send something that infringes someone else's copyright, defames them, or violates the law, that's on you, not us. We will respond to lawful takedown requests.
6. The AI layer
The AI features (transcription, summarization, task extraction, the "memory" of people and facts you mention) are off by default. You can turn them on or off per workspace and per conversation, at any time.
When AI is on:
- Your messages are also encrypted to a per-workspace AI processor that runs inside our infrastructure.
- The processor decrypts your messages, generates the AI-derived data, and writes it back to your account.
- We do not use your content to train shared AI models.
- The AI may be wrong. Always verify anything important — extracted task due dates, people's names, summarized commitments — before acting on it.
- You can delete every fact the AI has extracted with a single tap in Settings ("Clear AI memory").
We are not liable for actions you take based on AI-derived content that turns out to be wrong.
7. Service availability
We aim for high availability but we do not guarantee zero downtime, especially during beta. We may take the service offline for maintenance, security incidents, or operator error without notice.
If a sustained outage prevents you from using the service for an extended period and you have paid us for that period, we will refund the affected portion.
8. Pricing and payment
Telbox is free during beta.
When we introduce paid plans, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and you will be able to continue with whatever subset of features remains free. If you choose a paid plan:
- Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as you select.
- Apple's App Store handles the billing for any in-app purchases. Refunds for App Store charges are handled by Apple per their refund policy.
- Cancel any time from the App Store subscription settings.
- Your data does NOT get deleted when you cancel — you simply lose access to paid features. Your account continues on the free tier until you delete it.
9. Intellectual property
The Telbox app, our backend, our brand, and our designs are ours and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. The TestFlight beta gives you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on your own devices. You may not copy the app, distribute it, or use the brand commercially without our written permission.
The third-party open-source components inside the app are listed in Settings → About → Licenses. Each is governed by its own license; nothing in these Terms restricts the rights you have under those licenses.
10. Security research
If you find a security issue, please contact info@telbox.ai. We will:
- Acknowledge receipt within 48 hours.
- Keep you informed of the fix timeline.
- Credit you publicly if you wish (or stay anonymous).
- Refrain from taking legal action against good-faith security research that does not access other users' data, does not degrade the service for others, and does not disclose the issue publicly before we have a fix.
A formal bug-bounty program will follow public launch.
11. Termination
You can delete your account from the in-app Settings → Delete Account screen, at any time, without explanation. All your data is removed immediately (see the Privacy Policy for retention details on encrypted backups).
We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, especially the Acceptable Use rules. We will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so or we believe doing so would risk other users' safety.
12. Liability
We provide Telbox "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We disclaim all implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose).
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages — lost business, lost data, lost profits, etc.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) USD 50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits. If you live in one of those jurisdictions, the parts that are not allowed do not apply, and the rest still does.
We do not exclude or limit our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything else that the law does not allow us to exclude.
13. Indemnification
If a third party brings a claim against us because of how you used Telbox in violation of these Terms, you agree to defend us and cover the resulting costs, except to the extent that the claim arises from our own gross negligence or wrongdoing.
14. Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms in any material way we will notify you in-app and require you to review the new version before continuing to use the service. Continuing to use Telbox after a change means you accept the new Terms.
Minor edits (typo fixes, contact updates) take effect when posted; we will keep a "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Telbox shall be resolved in the DIFC Courts. Nothing in this section prevents you from bringing a claim in your local consumer-protection forum if local law gives you that right.
